I call this a Happy Smoothie because that is exactly what it does! A mood-enhancing smoothie with the goodness of bananas, cacao, almond and cinnamon, this smoothie not only provides beneficial potassium and antioxidants but improves the mood and makes you feel energized and positively happy. Banana and almond increase the production of serotonin while cacao triggers the release of endorphins. A glass of this keeps the grumpies away and my boys absolutely love the chocolate-caramel flavour!
4 overripe medium bananas, peeled
2 cups almond or soy milk
2 tablespoons cacao powder
2 teaspoons maca powder
1 tablespoon peanut or almond butter
1/2 teaspoon sea salt flakes
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Place all ingredients for the smoothie in the jug of a blender and process until smooth.
Pour in 2 X 325 ml lidded glass jars. Store in the fridge for up to three days.
Recipe can be easily doubled to make more serves.
